Epson D92 review
The first consideration before buying a budget inkjet printer is the price of the printer ink cartridges. Some printer cartridges for budget printers can cost twice as much as the printer itself so what first seem like a bargain printer becomes a very expensive one very quickly. Epson D92 ink cartridges are no more expensive than other Epson printers but this doesn’t make them cheap, luckily there are cheaper compatibles available which cost considerable less than the originals. When you start printing with the D92 the first thing that strikes you is the noise level, its quite high, especially when its loading a sheet of paper from its 80 sheet capacity paper tray. The quality of print however can’t be faulted; it’s equally to that of more expensive printers and not only when printing text documents but photos as well. The printing speed is not so great though, even in standard quality mode printing standard plain text documents the D92 takes a long time to print. The official pages per minute for the D92 is 25 ppm but in the real world this is more like 2.5 pages per minutes, the only way you can achieve 25 ppm is printing one line of text per page in draft quality mode. Printing photo is even worse, a medium size photo takes evelen whole minutes. This lack of speed when printing is a real shame as the D92 could have been a good general purpose printer for a lot of people instead its only really suitable for those who frequently only print five pages or less.
